The importance of web design on your site.

First impressions always count and this applies to websites too. Some issues of poor web design include slow loading and small text which is hard to read. With that in mind, what does a good web design include?

Why invest in your web design?

Good Website Design and Development is the glue that holds any site together, whether that includes making your site look nice and functional or fixing issues you may be having within your site. Web Designers usually are the people we turn to and trust us, they’re worth every penny. When we click on to a site we expect quick loading times, within a matter of seconds.

When we access the site, we enjoy a page which is easy to navigate around, making sure that there are easily accessible navigation throughout the site along with a search bar is a must. A clear design layout with easy to read font, the links which you click on all work and it’s easy to read, colourful backgrounds can sometimes make the site harder to read. Bright pink or neon yellow aren’t colours you want to be reading from. Although investing a professional to design your website it will be worth it in the long run as you’re likely to have fewer problems with it in the future.

An overview of good website design:

Contact details:

A site which is well-designed will include contact information about what the company offers, as well as contact details. Adding these at the footer of your site is a good place to have these, as well as easily accessed on the homepage, often this is put in the sidebar.

Working links:

Making sure all of the elements on the site work correctly which includes everything from social media links to internal links on pages, regularly checking your inbound and outbound links to make sure they all still work is a fantastic way to stay on top of this. Regular checks and working links will enhance the visitors experience when they check your website.

Testimonials:

Adding testimonials from your best clients on to your site can work massively in your favour as it shows off your skills and also makes you appear more trustworthy to potential clients.

A blog:

Writing blog posts on a regular basis around the products you sell is a great way to keep people up to date with any news and updates. Alongside creating interesting pieces of content which draws views into the site. For example, if you write a successful piece of content your site is more likely to get linked back to which helps with site metrics such as Domain Authority.

Why online marketing and design go hand in hand.

What makes a bad website?

A slow site:

We all know that feeling of frustration when you click on a website and it takes several minutes to load or even worse it times out completely. It’s an issue that is likely to make potential customers click off your site and never return. If you’re on a site and it is difficult to complete tasks, again this may involve potential clients who leave the site and don’t come back.

Too many ads:

When you first open a site and a variety of pop up ads appear which are playing a video or make it almost impossible to close them down can be hugely offputting. Ads are fine to have within a site as long as these are more natural or restricted to the sidebar when possible.

Poor font choices:

When it comes to font choice this is also very important as if consumers are unable to read your site, not only will they click off and not come back but also those who are interested will likely look for an alternative site, which of course means visiting a competitor. Picking a font colour also matters to your readers, trying to read white on a bright colour or black on a dark colour is a struggle, picking a bright colour is something we’d advise avoiding as you don’t want to have to wear sunglasses to read a blog post. Having a dark font on a white background is simplistic and easy to read. There a variety of sites which you can find fonts that suit you such as Da Font

Ultimately it is up to you how you choose to have your site, but bad design can impact views and of course, sales.  Get in touch with us today for a quote on how we can help transform your website.
